At Spies Company LLC our tag line is "Hydronics on a first name basis.".  We are a small firm and we are on a first name basis with our factories, suppliers, customers and engineers.   Our email addresses use our first names - each of our team members is accessible and accountable to everyone we work with.  That doesn't come over night.  It results from decades of high integrity interactions with each of our business partners every time we work with them.  Each person we add to the team is incredibly important.  Our team is smart,  knowledgeable, well respected in the industry and carries not only their own weight, but the mission of Spies Company.


We are entering our third generation of business starting in 2024.  Founded by Gerald "Gerry" Spies in 1987, carried forward by his son Richard "Dick" Spies through 2023, Paul and Sharon Tappouni are not only carrying on a legacy of quality  and service, but are laying the foundation for expansion and growth over the next 5 years.


With that growth in mind, we are looking for "just the right" people to add to our team.  Ours is a niche business - manufacturer's representative for commercial and industrial hydronics products and systems.  Very few individuals out there have the exact experience and skill mix needed at Spies.  We understand that and are really good at educating new team members on the elements they need to work here.


Documented experience and understanding in the following areas are really helpful to becoming a successful Spies Team member.


  1. Mechanical Contracting - if you've worked in the field, and understand how mechanical sub-contractors work in large projects like hospitals, schools, and governmental jobs you'll be aligned with our primary customer base.  Hydronics installation a plus but not required.
  2. Sales (inside or outside) in the HVAC or hydronics industry.  Establishing relationships is a critical skill for sales and growth.  Clear communication, use of a customer relationship management system, consistent follow up all contribute to success.
  3. Engineer mentality - Engineers are where it all starts.  They do the design, draw up the plans and document the specifications for each project and job we're asked to bid.  We call on and talk to engineers in our markets to help them understand our product lines and what products will meet or exceed their design specification.  They are a unique and technical group.  You can't BS them and you need to speak their language or it wastes everyone's time.
